London’s Tower Bridge was stuck open on Monday due to a technical malfunction, leading to traffic jams in the city centre due to road closures.
Cars and pedestrians were unable to cross.
London Police reported that the famous London Bridge became stuck in a fully upright position after opening to allow a tall wooden ship through. Dozens of passersby stopped on the bridge to take photographs in the middle of the road without any interfering traffic.
The iconic 787-foot-long bridge is one of the major thoroughfares over the River Thames and is now set to remain shut until next Sunday.
Last August, the bridge, nearly 130 years old, was jammed for over an hour.
