Firefighters and local residents joined forces to tackle another blaze in the area of Gouves, on the fire-ravaged island of Evia, Greece.
The fire, which reportedly started in the morning, quickly spread among the vegetation prompting local residents to rush to the scene and help. Helicopters were also sent in an attempt to extinguish the fire, which was contained after a couple of hours.
More than 2,000 people have been evacuated from the island of Evia, Greece’s second-largest island, as the country has been battling devastating wildfires for nearly two weeks.
The fires come amid the worst heatwave to strike the country in the last three decades.
