German soldiers could be seen cleaning the wreckage after severe flooding near Blessem in the statet of North Rhine-Westphalia on Saturday. Cars blocking the road were seen being removed by Bundeswehr rescue crews. At least 103 people were killed, and more than 1,000 have gone missing after the flash floods hit parts of western Germany, while tens of thousands have been left without electricity. Flooding has also affected Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. German federal defence minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer triggered Germany’s military disaster alarm in response.
