Georgetown University professor Howard Newton is facing a legal challenge to keep the statues of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime from the blockbuster hit ‘Transformers’ outside his home.
Footage filmed on Saturday shows local residents taking photos in front of the installations.
According to local reports, the Old Georgetown Board, which decides on changes to homes’ exteriors in the historical area, ruled that the figures do not comply with regulations and will most likely have to be taken down.
“They are asking that I keep them temporary, on a temporary basis or remove them and withdraw my application. I will do neither and my lawyer is addressing that,” said Howard.
Officials as well as some of his neighbours say that the statues don’t match the look of the 230-year-old neighbourhood.
