A pizza chef has mastered his skills at producing pizzas with celebrities’ faces, including politicians such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Bavarian Minister-President Markus Soder, as seen in Nuremberg on Wednesday.
Chef Ali Mohamed showed off his technique using baking paper to trace the image of Merkel, who is also known in Germany as ‘mummy.’ With the outline, Mohamed cuts through the melted mozzarella to produce a finished image in the chancellor’s likeness.
Bindar Khadija, the owner of the pizzeria El Salvatore, explained, “so first we made other celebrity pictures for fun on pizzas and so we thought we’d put it on our website and also on Facebook. And then a lot of people wrote that it is cool, and asked if we do it for delivery and then we said yes why not.”
The meticulous method took Mohamed, who also came up with the innovative idea, two years to master.
“At first, I thought I’d do famous people and famous people, like Merkel, and I thought of her as a decent person, and I decided to paint her,” Mohamed said.
According to the owner, Markus Soder messaged the pizzeria to tell them he found the idea ‘cool.’
