Sydney locals evacuate amid worst floods in decades

Severe floods continued battering the Sydney area, leaving houses, barns, and roads submerged due to heavy rains, Monday.

Dozens of families have been evacuated alongside holidaymakers who camped at Hawkesbury river.

Western parts of Penrith and Londonderry were most affected after they were pounded with record-levels of rainfall that caused the Nepean River to overflow.

The Bureau of Meteorology was quoted as saying that the next 24 to 36 hours will be critical and has described the current situation as the worst flooding since 1961.
