A rare racing Porsche 911 once allegedly owned by notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar is expected to fetch a minimum of $2.2 million (€1.8 million) at a Florida auction house.
Showcased by Atlantis Motor Group in Boca Raton, the canary-yellow Porsche 911 RSR was once owned by two-time Formula One world champion Emerson Fittipaldi before changing hands a few more times until it ended up in Escobar’s possession.
“So the car went to Central America and then South America and ran a few races, they rebodied it to a 935 clone and there’s a lot of photos of him (Escobar) in the car and the car itself,” said Atlantis Motor Group co-founder Ken Gold speaking next to the much-coveted car on Thursday.
“It’ like having an ashtray from Al Capone’s office, something like that. …Somebody who will appreciate it. And hopefully race it. Because the car was made to be driven in anger,” added Gold.
