A passionate sightseer discovered a metal monolith in the Utah desert on Wednesday despite the authorities keeping its location in secret.
Acting on a Reddit post showing its co-ordinates, David Surber said he drove for six hours from the Salt Lake area and ventured through the canyons to be the first to reach the site.
Utah State wildlife officials had originally spotted the object in mid-November while conducting a helicopter flyover.
The exact origin of the monolith and why it appeared in the canyon is still unknown. (ruptly.tv)
