Looking for a new kind of thrill? Japanese firm launches ‘welding theme parks’

The first franchise of a chain of ‘welding theme parks’ offered visitors a unique kind of experience that one cannot usually find in amusement parks. Guests participated in a workshop and got to experiment the craft of welding in Fukui, Ishikawa Ken, on Monday. “Our company is making iron stairs and iron railings, and we install them on site. As the number of young people doing welding is decreasing, we started this kind of workshop called ‘Iron Planet’ because we wanted to let more people know about welding,” explained Teruyuki Kobayashi, the company’s CEO. “It’s really fun to see the iron melting. So if you can enjoy it, you won’t be afraid,” said Naomi Fujisawa, a guest who took part in the workshop. A second and third store offering this workshop are set to open shortly in Tochigi prefecture and Kanagawa prefecture respectively. (ruptly.tv)
