‘We are on track to win this election’ – Biden

Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden addressed his supporters from the Chase Centre in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday, at an event on the night of the US presidential election. Biden approached the podium with his spouse and shared a rather optimistic view on the outcome of the election. “I’m here to tell you tonight – we believe we’re on track to win this election. We knew because of the unprecedented early vote and mailing vote it’s gonna take a while. We’re gonna have to be patient,” said Biden, after which he confirmed the early lead in several states, including Arizona, Minnesota, Georgia and Pennsylvania. “It’s not my place or Donald Trump’s place to declare who’s won this election. That’s the decision of the American people. But I’m optimistic about this outcome,” he added. The presidential race between Biden and incumbent US President Donald Trump has been dominated by discussion of the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as police brutality and racial discrimination. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an estimated 80 million voters were expected to vote by mail this year – almost double the number of 2016 – as a security measure to limit gatherings and the spread of the virus. This could delay the announcement of the official results by days or weeks, as some states will accept ballots that arrive after election. (Rutply.tv)
