Businesses board up windows in DC in fear of election night chaos

In an unusual practice, just a few days prior to the election, Washington DC downtown building owners are preparing and safeguarding their properties before possible unrest on the election night. Buildings’ doors and glass fronts were being covered with wooden boards to prevent possible damages like those observed during BLM riots just a few months ago. “There are concerns that there is gong to be some social unrest. So they want to protect at least the first level glass in their buildings,” said Frank Caudle, manager of ADI Construction, as his workers were placing up wooden panels on a building. The 2020 United States presidential election is set to take place on Tuesday, November 3, in the context of a deeply polarised political environment. (Ruptly.tv)
